This recipe makes me so happy! (Makes my belly happy, too…) A savory version of a traditional Coeur a la Creme (a miraculously simple and creamy dessert that pairs wonderfully with a fresh fruit sauce), this amazing appetizer idea is sure to be a hit. Simply a mixture of cream cheese and heavy cream, lemon zest, lemon juice, fresh herbs, scallions and salt and pepper, you whip up the mixture until it becomes the texture of whipped cream, and then pour it either into a traditional coeur a la creme mold like this one, or simply in a cheesecloth-lined bowl. Allow the cheese to sit in the fridge over a bowl overnight (to catch any liquid that drains off), try serving this rich spread with fresh radishes, celery, your favorite crispy crackers, and some dried apricots to offset its savory nature.
