If, like me, you can’t get enough of simple, splendid French recipes then this cookbook is for you. Everything from small bites to cocktails, salads to meats, desserts to vegetables dishes, this cookbooks is just further proof that French women, and traditional French cooking, are both fabulous. The Bonne Femme is a cookbook that not only is chock-full of recipes (I want to try them all!) but fabulous cultural tid-bits and whimsical illustrations that will have you singing French tunes in your head in no time.
One of my favorite appetizer recipes in the book is for a homemade cracker of nutty Gruyere cheese, a touch of cayenne pepper, fresh herbs and finely ground nuts. Walnuts are suggested, but I found that even pecans are a nice flavor in the cracker as well. Lovely when served with your cocktail of choice, these Gruyere-Pecan Crackers will certainly be the hit of your next get together.
