I know, I know. You’re probably saying to yourself…boy, Anna sure does seem obsessed with Laura Calder, the fabulous host of the Cooking Channel’s French Food at Home. Well fine friends, that’s just putting it mildly! Every time I watch her cooking show it inspires me so, and has me wanting to test each and every one of her fabulous French recipes. (Her cookbooks are equally intruiging if you are in the market for a fabulous read…)
Ms. Calder’s recipe for ‘Shrimp in Mayonnaise’ is no exception. Interesting titled because, no, it isn’t shrimp swimming in a bowl of jarred mayonnaise…thank goodness. It is a lovely, light appetizer of sautéed shrimp served alongside a mustardy-mayo that yes, you make with your own two hands. Not the mustard of course, but you the make the mayo the old fashioned way—with oil, lemon juice, salt and the yolk of an egg. Terribly impressive and utterly delicious, this recipe is a luxurious way to start any meal.
