Crumpets, a traditional English breakfast or tea time treat, are a yeast-based dough similar in taste to a doughy pancake, that are traditionally served with butter and an assortment of jams and jellies. Similar to an English muffin but with a more doughy texture, I was surprised at how easy (and fun!) it was to make these treats at home. The round molds to make crumpets are available at just about any cook shop, and after the dough rises, it is placed in each greased, round mold, in a skillet, to cook in the stovetop. Homemade crumpets is as impressive as impressive gets!
