Adding ground turmeric into a pan of braised greens not only adds a lovely deep yellow hue to the dish, but also a rich flavor undertone. For this lovely side dish I sautéed tender Swiss chard in a touch of olive oil along with chickpeas, then reduced the heat, added in roasted garlic cloves and white wine and continued to cook the mixture until the greens were wilted. A simple seasoning with salt, pepper and the ground turmeric and voila–a healthy and colorful side dish is served!
