Even before you take the first bite of this simple yet decadent dessert, the name alone lets you know it’s going to be yummy. Cherries Jubilee: a classic warm fruit dessert made with sweet cherries that cook in brown sugar along with butter, a splash of brandy or bourbon, and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice to balance it all out. It’s an absolute must that you serve this warm treat with a scoop of ice cream; typically it is vanilla ice cream, but I like the taste of cherries with chocolate as well, so I serve it with a small scoop of both.

Cherries Jubilee
Ingredients:
- 1 Tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 12 oz. frozen dark cherries, thawed
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- Splash of bourbon or brandy
- Juice of 1/2 a lemon
- Ice cream, for serving
Directions:
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium-low heat. Add in the sugar and cherries. Cook, stirring often for 10 minutes, or until the sugar is dissolved and the juices are thick. Reduce the heat and add in the vanilla, brandy or bourbon and the lemon juice. Cook for an additional couple of minutes so that the flavors come together; serve warm with a scoop of ice cream.
