I just can’t get enough of the season’s gorgeous apples and pears! No matter what variety, apples and pears are a wonderful combination in both desserts and savory dishes this time of year. Their unique sweetness pairs wonderfully together, and when you pour a delicious filling of both fruits into a homemade pie crust…you’re in for a treat! And not just any crust mind you; I was drawn to this specific pie recipe because of the inclusion of buttery walnuts into the homemade pie crust. The ground walnuts in the traditional pâte brisée gives a lovely nutty flavor to the entire pie. The finishing touch of wide strips of pastry in a lattice-pattern really makes this seasonal pie shine.

I can just taste this- looks wonderful
The crust alone for this pie was heavenly! I can also see swapping pecans or even almonds for the walnuts as well. I have to admit, it was not only super tasty, but really fun to create the lattice-work on top. 🙂
Happy Holidays Mrs. Jan!
