It’s that festive time of year again where colorful beads and ornate masks are the style, and you just might find a plastic baby in your next piece of cake. That’s right, it’s Mardi Gras! To celebrate this year, I decided to make a unique King Cake recipe from a recent issue of Louisiana Cookin’ magazine. This isn’t just any ordinary King Cake, it’s a coffee cake made from crescent rolls and filled with sweet cream cheese, pecans and sliced apples. And it isn’t a King Cake without the purple, green and gold sanding sugar; purple for justice, green for faith, and gold for power. However you choose to celebrate this decadent Holiday, I hope it includes a lot of fun…and a lot of Creole cuisine.
(**Note: I would half the amount of cream cheese suggested to 4 oz. instead of 8 oz.)
