Happy Birthday, Buon Compleanno, Bon Anniversaire… no matter how you say it, Birthdays are to be celebrated in a grand way! A day to really spoil your loved one with presents, laughter, and of course, great food and drink. I love to put together special occasion menus, especially Birthday menus. Today I am making an elegant menu for my husband’s Birthday:
Crab & White Bean Crostini
Crisp rounds of bread topped with lump crab meat, buttery white beans and flavored with lemon and jalapeno
Coq au Riesling
A nice twist on a traditional coq au vin—this one made with a dry Riesling instead of red wine
Collard Green Gratin
Tender collard greens with a creamy béchamel sauce, topped with breadcrumbs and Parmesan
Chocolate Almond Tart with Vanilla Ice Cream
A puff pastry tart topped with melted milk chocolate, chopped almonds and a touch of sea salt
