Eggnog isn’t just for sipping anymore! With a container of creamy nog in the fridge, I began thinking about an alternate way of using it. Not that just sipping on a glass of creamy nog is ever a bad thing, but in the mood for a sweet dessert treat, I decided to make it into a nice mousse instead. Gather up your favorite dessert cups or champagne coupes and fill it with this sweet, creamy mixture for a simple Holiday dessert. Basically you are adding gelatin into your favorite store-bought egg nog along with a touch of dark run, vanilla and the warm flavors of ground cinnamon a nutmeg. You then fold in whipped cream for that mousse-like texture and refrigerate until firm. A modern twist on a classic Holiday beverage—I know you’ll love it.

Eggnog Mousse
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of store-bought eggnog
- 1 packet of gelatin
- 2 Tablespoons dark rum
- pinch of ground nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 Tablespoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream, whipped to soft peaks
Directions:
- Place the eggnog in a medium saucepan. Sprinkle the gelatin over the eggnog and let it sit for 5 minutes. Over a low heat, stir the eggnog and gelatin mixture for 2-3 minutes or until the gelatin has dissolved. Place the eggnog mixture in the fridge and allow to completely chill.
- Once it has chilled, stir in the rum, vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon. Fold in the whipped cream. Divide among 4 dessert glasses, cover with plastic wrap and chill for at least 2 hours (or overnight)—chill until the mousse is set. Serve chilled.
