A moist individual chocolate cake flavored with a touch of orange zest and Gran Marnier, filled with a gooey chocolate center.  To be honest, I am not a chocoholic, but this dessert was a pure and tasty mocha delight.  Call off the search for your next dessert to make at home –these Chocolate Lava Cakes are easy to make and even easier to file away in your favorite recipe folder.

Chocolate Lava Cakes

Ingredients:

  • 300 grams baker’s chocolate
  • 180 grams butter
  • 5 eggs
  • 100 grams sugar
  • 60 grams flour
  • 2 Tablespoons Gran Marnier
  • 1 small orange, zested
  • Cocoa powder
  • Powdered sugar
  • Whipped cream, for serving
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a double boiler, melt chocolate and butter together over low heat. Set aside. Using electric mixer on high speed, whip eggs and sugar together about 5 minutes or until soft peaks form. Slowly fold flour into egg mixture. Fold melted chocolate into mixture until completely blended. Next, fold in orange zest and Gran Marnier. Grease individual baking cups; sprinkle with cocoa powder. Pour mixture into baking cups. Bake 15 minutes. Cool 5 minutes. Turn onto serving dishes; sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve with whipped cream, if desired.
