‘Almond Cake with Orange-Flower Water Syrup’

I adore sweet and savory cakes that use oil and yogurt in place of butter, to add a nice crumb and unforgettable moistness in each and every bite.  This lovely almond-flavored cake is made with almond meal and a bit of flour, and topped off with sliced almonds and an incredible orange-sugar syrup.  The syrup is a reduction of sugar, orange juice and a couple of teaspoons of fragrant orange flower water.  Almonds and oranges are a wonderful flavor combination—this tasty treat is wonderful for dessert or breakfast with a piping hot espresso.
